The College of Podiatry

Our expert podiatrist and founder of Podiatry & Wellness Clinic, Lorraine Humphrey, has provided high-quality treatments to hundreds of patients across East Sussex with a wide range of different foot issues, from ingrown toenails and verrucae to plantar fasciitis and corns/callus. Lorraine also works closely with practitioners in other medical disciplines to ensure her patients get the best care possible, including fast access to antibiotics, pain relief, other prescription medicines, and laboratory tests. Lorraine attends regular training courses and branch meetings for CPD to ensure she keeps up to date with the latest advances in podiatry.

Lorraine’s career with feet began in 2001 when she studied reflexology at the Association of Reflexology in London. She then wanted to take her training further afield and studied Podiatry at the University of Brighton in 2009. During this time, she also worked at Lewisham Hospital, practicing podiatry on a wide range of patients.

Graduating in 2012 with a BSc (hons) degree in Podiatry, she went on to open her own successful business, Polegate Podiatry & Health Clinic in March 2013. As well as working with hundreds of patients in Polegate, Lorraine also opened a small clinic in Burwash where she continues to work every Tuesday. Lorraine decided in 2018 that this wasn’t enough so she volunteered for St John Ambulance in Brighton and Hove, offering podiatry to the homeless people in need. She then went on to win the Argos Award for Achievement for her volunteer work with the team at St John Ambulance.

In 2019, Lorraine relocated and opened her new business, Podiatry & Wellness Clinic, where she now works with Rebecca Love, Nicky Yates, John Privett and Helen Whyte-McGrath, providing a range of services to the local community. Lorraine is also the lead podiatrist at the Priory Psychiatric Hospital in Heathfield where she has gained a brilliant understanding of mental health.

Aaron Knowles, who specialises in tissue viability and lymphoedema, attends Podiatry & Wellness Clinic once a month as a guest podiatrist.

Aaron completed his podiatry training at the University of Brighton with Lorraine in 2009-2012 and went straight into wound care services specialising in the diabetic foot. Over the years this developed into general lower limb wounds including upskilling in advanced bandaging techniques, pressure relief including offloading of the foot, martini style slipper cast/heel cast, biomechanics and advanced debridement.

During this time, he often encountered lymphoedema in the limbs so has completed a further training course in specialist lymphoedema treatment of the whole body. He took to this new area of treatment well and has since become one of the Lymphoedema Training Academy trainers and promotes/provides training for all health care professionals in lymphoedema and lipoedema while leading the lymphoedema service locally.
